Cooper offers a wide variety of math courses. Most 9th graders start out in IBMYP HS Algebra or IBMYP Geometry. After Geometry, students take Algebra 2 (this course is required for high school graduation). After Algebra 2 there is are 3 different IB Diploma math sequences that students can choose. IB Math Studies is a one year course, while IB Math SL is a two year course. IB Math HL is also a two year course, although students must have taken the first year of IB Math SL first. Another math option for seniors is Statistics.
There are a number of supports in place for those students who are ready to move more quickly through their math sequence. These courses include IBMYP Accelerated Geometry/Algebra 2 and summer boost options.
Math support is available during and after the school day. The Cooper Math Lounge is available to students several days a week in room 380. There are Math Party (Study Support) Sessions on Thursdays after school in room 380.
All math students are required to have a calculator. Please read the Calculator Policy for more information. There are also calculators that are available on Chromebooks. Two good links for online calculators are: mca.rdale.org or desmos.com.
Check your math classes' Schoology page for links to resources and updates on class specific information.
