Hello and welcome to the Star Tribune fundraiser!
Have you ever had to pay for instrument repair or lessons?
Then we have the answer for you! Star Tribune is a fundraising opportunity where students (and parents) can work on Saturday afternoons and get reimbursed for Performing Arts expenses. Collectively, CPAB students earn a total of about $26,000 per year through their Star Tribune work and these funds are tax free.
Here's the scoop:
Individuals earn approximately $10.50 per hour by assembling Sunday newspaper sections for Star Tribune. All funds earned are held in individual student CPAB Star Trib accounts. When your student has a qualifying performing arts related expense, simply fill out a reimbursement form and submit it in with a receipt or a copy of your canceled check (front & back).
Student accounts carry over from year to year and may be transferred to siblings. Graduating seniors can claim funds in their account until September 30th following their graduation. At that point, all remaining funds left in the accounts are transferred to CPAB to be used for overall performing arts needs.
There are 3 sign up opportunities per year: September, January, and May. An announcement will go out via e-mail (make sure that CPAB has your e-mail address) and through the teachers.
We need a crew of 4 Lead Parents and many workers each Saturday at the Star Tribune Depot, located at 7145 Boone Ave N, #180, Brooklyn Park to assemble the Sunday paper. The work is not difficult and on the spot training is available.
