Robbinsdale Cooper's Social Studies Department offers a full range of required courses for 9th through 12th grades aligned to the Minnesota Academic Social Studies Standards, as well as several elective courses.
Social Studies offers required 9th and 10th grade MYP courses in Human Geography (9) and U.S. History (10). In addition, the Social Studies Department has added courses in Advanced Placement Geography (9) and U.S. History (10) for students seeking an even greater challenge and a chance to earn college credit.
For 11th and 12th grade students, required courses in World History (11) and Government (12) are offered, as well as International Baccalaureate Diploma Level courses, History of Africa and the Middle East (11) and 20th Century Topics (12) for those interested in following the IB diploma track or who are interested in more challenging coursework.
Finally, 11th and 12th grade students may also enroll in one of three elective courses: Sociology, Psychology, and/or IB Psychology.
