Cooper Students Earn National DECA Honor Award

Elena Gentry, Jennifer Gray, Jael Kerandi, Keon Gates, Patricia Bartos, and Skylar Smiley, seniors at Cooper High School, are the recipients of the 2017 DECA Emerging Leader Honor Award. This award recognizes students studying marketing, finance, hospitality, and management for being academically prepared, community orientated, professionally responsible, experienced leaders through participation in DECA. The award recipient must be a DECA member in their senior year of high school with a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or better.

DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management. DECA is a career and technical student organization comprised of over 215,000 members from all 50 United States, the District of Columbia, Canada, China, Germany, Guam, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Spain. DECA enhances the preparation for college and careers by providing co-curricular programs that integrate into classroom instruction, apply learning, connect to business and promote competition.
