Weekly Update

Update for the Week of December 10, 2018

  • On Tuesday, December 11, we’ll celebrate with our 36 November Students of the Month. They were nominated by Cooper staff for exhibiting the learner profile “Open-Minded.” Click here for a listing of students that are receiving this honor.
  • The next opportunity for a Personal Project after-school work session is on Wednesday, December 12. Students will meet in the media center after school, and IB staff will be on hand to assist and answer questions, if needed. Encourage your student to utilize this time!
  • On December 7, we held our annual Silver Platter Day, where our senior diploma candidates presented their final Extended Essay to their supervisor. This is a major milestone in their journey to earn the IB diploma. The 4,000 word essay they’ve been working on since the second half of their junior year is complete! Click here for a listing of diploma candidates and their essay topic.
  • There is still time to register for IB tests, but time is running out. Both HL and SL courses can help your student earn potential college credit, which saves you money down the road. Minnesota state universities, community colleges and technical schools accept both SL and HL credits, depending on the score. If your student is on the fence about whether to test, consider this: if they test and earn an acceptable score, they’ll earn enough credits to save well over $400 (per test, depending on where they enroll for post-secondary education). It's worth their time (and money) to take the tests.
