Cooper students awarded for service project

Students from Cooper High School have placed first in the state for most outstanding team for their work with Multiplying Good's Students in Action this year. The service project was entitled Breaking the Chain of Violence with the goal of building a safer community.

The project included participation in multiple district and community events including:

  • Black History Month Expo
  • MLK Day Event: Spread Love, Not Hate
  • Black Excellence Panel
  • Youth Day at the Capitol
  • MAC: Multicultural Advisory Committee 
  • Student Safety Summit and Student Summit
  • SAVE conference
  • Voices in Prevention with Tubman
  • Guest Speakers (Rapping Rep., Native Grass Dancer and Family, Spoken Word Poet)
  • Reading lesson for Northport Elementary students 

As a result, the students will be heading to New York in September to compete at the national level.
