Robbinsdale Virtual Academy (RVA) Now Serving K-12 Students

Dear Robbinsdale Area Schools families,

Over the past year, as school shifted to a distance learning model during the pandemic, you may have discovered that your scholar thrives in a virtual learning environment. If so, we have some exciting news to share with you!

This spring, the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) approved and certified the expansion of Robbinsdale Virtual Academy (RVA) to all grades, K-12. Previously, the school had only served high school students.

All of this means Robbinsdale Area Schools now has a virtual, online school option for all students, and if your scholar excelled in a distance learning environment, RVA may be the right fit for your family.

There are a few important things that you should consider as you contemplate RVA as the best school for your scholar:

  • Robbinsdale Area Schools is now one of the few districts in the state with an online school that serves scholars at all grade levels.
  • The RVA curriculum is developed and implemented by Robbinsdale Area Schools staff specifically for online learners -- meaning it’s tailored to meet the needs of students, and aligned with the curriculum found in district schools. This allows for a more cohesive learning environment, and differentiates RVA from other online schools that use a one-size-fits-all curriculum.
  • RVA will have its own principal, its own teachers and support staff and importantly, its own identity.
  • Students will have a teacher they work with at RVA, which isn’t typical for many online schools. This allows students to build a one-on-one connection with a teacher, and also have someone to go to in the event they need additional support.

Even though you’ve already registered your student for the upcoming school year, we want to share this opportunity with our families. All district students are eligible to apply to attend RVA next year, no matter their grade.

If you’re interested in RVA, we ask that you begin the registration process quickly by completing the intradistrict transfer form (English, Spanish). The next step is to email, mail, or drop the form off at the enrollment center, located at 4148 Winnetka Ave. N, New Hope 55427. Emails can be sent to enrollment@rdale.org. You can also call the District’s Enrollment Center at 763-504-8080 if you have questions about the process. We ask that families interested register by June 1 as space is limited.

For more information about RVA, visit the school’s website, which we’re updating often with new curriculum information, or checkout the specific grade-level pages:

Thank you!

Sincerely,
