Weekly Update

Update for the Weeks of November 18 and 25, 2019

  • Personal Project students (grade 10) can sign up for an after-school work session on November 18. These sessions start after school, and students will be given a pass to take the activity bus home. It’s a great opportunity for students to have some dedicated time to work on their project, and Ms. Christensen will be there in case there are any questions from students. Students were provided in Schoology with a link to the sign-up document.
  • Personal Project students (grade 10) can also sign up daily (except Wednesdays) to work on the Personal Project during Lunch & Learns. Students may sign up via Edficiency for this dedicated work time.
  • On November 7, we celebrated with our October students of the month, who were nominated for exhibiting the IB learner profile of Communicator.
  • We are still accepting both IB and AP test registration forms. Testing fee is $90/test, but if this is a difficulty for your family, scholarship funds are available. Both HL and SL courses can help your student earn potential college credit, which saves you money down the road. Minnesota state universities, community colleges and technical schools accept both SL and HL credits, depending on the score. If your student is on the fence about whether to test, consider this: if they test and earn an acceptable score, they’ll earn enough credits to save well over $400 (per test, depending on where they enroll for post-secondary education). It's worth their time (and money) to take the tests.
  • Our annual IB Night of Service will be held at Cooper on January 23 from 5 - 7 p.m. Plan to attend with your family and participate in many activities that will make a difference in our community. We are currently seeking donations of fleece for a project we’ll be doing that evening for Secondhand Hound. Donations can be brought to the front office at Cooper.
  • Here at Cooper, there’s a big emphasis on the arts. Our halls are filled with student-created murals, and in the IB world that’s a big thing! The blog of the week highlights one student’s opinion of art can save the world. Enjoy the read!
